Ten side blocks 7.5 millimeters in size, printed on a 3D printer. Intended for the rigging of sailing ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ten pieces in one package cover a whole group of rigging where the same dimension repeats. The parts are made by printing on a 3D printer, so they have a distinctly separated shell and groove, even at a length of 7.5 millimeters. The version is the side one, that is with the eye set on the side of the shell, which suits places where the line has to run parallel with a yard or with the side of a structure.
7.5 millimeters corresponds in 1:72 to a real block roughly fifty-four centimeters long, and in 1:96 to something over seventy centimeters. It is therefore a large block, of the kind that belongs on a sailing ship to the lower masts and the main halyards, not to the fine running rigging up at the top.
Prepare a work surface with a low rim first, because a part of this size is practically impossible to find once it falls on the floor. Separate the blocks with a sharp scalpel, level the burrs with a fine file and check the passage for the line against the light to see whether it is blocked.
Painting is usually easier before fitting: the parts are threaded onto a wire or held with adhesive tape and sprayed all at once. A wooden look comes from a brown base and drybrushing with a lighter shade, while the dark metal fittings are dotted in right at the end with a fine brush.
It will be appreciated by builders of sailing ships and ship scenes who are replacing coarse parts from a kit or filling in missing pieces in their own rigging.
