The M728 Combat Engineer Vehicle was an American engineer vehicle built on the chassis of the M60 tank. In place of a classic gun it carried a short 165 mm weapon meant for demolishing obstacles and field fortifications, a blade at the front and, above the turret, a folding boom with a winch for raising loads and tearing wreckage out. Engineers cut a way through with it wherever an obstacle had to be removed or an embankment leveled, and did so under the protection of armor. The American army used it from the 1960s right up to the 1990s.
This is an accessory set in 1:35 scale intended for the AFV Club kit with the part number 35254. It supplements or replaces parts of the basic kit where a finer shape is needed than a molding allows. A list of the parts and the procedure for fitting them are given in the manufacturer's instructions; before you start, compare the parts with the instructions for the kit, so that you know which original sections are cut away and when their turn to be fitted comes.
The parts are not polystyrene, and liquid cement for plastic will not hold on them. They are fitted with super glue applied in a tiny amount. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off, so that thin shapes are not weakened. Lay everything in place dry first and check whether the part settles in its place without pressure. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface and lay down a thin coat of primer, so that further paint holds as well as it does on plastic.
