A collector figure cast in resin, 75 mm tall, the manufacturer's part number FI75-021, Polish brand PANZER ART. Height in millimeters is the main dimensional figure for this class of figures and the size of the whole scene is chosen by it; a scale ratio is not stated here, because it depends on where the height is measured to. The figure belongs to an extensive line of medieval characters that the brand lists under the FI75 codes. It is a subject for painting, not a kit of military hardware.
The Hospitallers, that is the knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, grew out of the hospital that cared for pilgrims and the sick in Jerusalem; their name comes from it. After the First Crusade the community turned into a religious order of knights and at the beginning of the 12th century it gained papal recognition. A knight of that time did not yet have plate armor: he wore a long mail shirt, a helmet with a nasal and a large kite shield, and he fought with lance and sword. It is precisely this early form that is rarer on figures than the late Gothic knight.
Removable parts such as the head, the arms or the weapon are tried dry before gluing, so that the figure holds a convincing pose. Remove the mold seams carefully with a sharp knife and sand them down. A primer coat is mandatory on resin. Paint the skin and the eyes before you glue the figure together, and treat textile and metal separately: mail armor wants a metallic shade and a dark wash, while fabric wants matte coverage.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
