Which kits they are for

The masks are cut for the MiG-21 kits in 1:72 scale from the Eduard company, for the bis, MF and MFN versions. Precise cuts are the main thing about masks: they fit exactly onto the parts of the kit they were made for, and the tedious trying out and trimming of tape directly on the model falls away.

What the Expert version means

The set is sold in two ranges and this is the more extensive of them. It aims at a build where you want to cover more than just the cockpit and where finishing off the remaining parts with tape would rob you of the time the masks saved. The range, that is everything the sheet covers, is given by the manufacturer in the instructions; it pays to go through the order of the steps before the first spraying.

Tips for sticking them on

• Wash and degrease the parts to be masked and let them dry perfectly.
• Lift the mask off the sheet with tweezers, as your fingers transfer grease onto it.
• Press the edges down carefully with a blunt tip, especially in the corners of a frame.
• Stick them on before spraying; on a finished dried coat a mask no longer makes sense.
• Apply the paint thinly and in several passes, otherwise a ridge forms at the edge.
• Take the masks off soon after the paint has dried and pull them at an angle to the surface.

It will be appreciated by modelers who do not want to deal with a crooked frame on the cockpit of a MiG-21, and by builders who build several machines of this family one after another. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
