A Rafaut LBF-2 practice bomb rack with four bombs of the 16 kg weight class, in 1:72 scale. There are two pieces in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
Practice bombs serve for training drops. Compared with combat ones they are far lighter and far less expensive, yet they imitate the behavior in flight closely enough for the training to make sense; the point of impact is usually marked by a smoke charge. Precisely because they are small, they are carried several at a time on a common rack, and a crew practices more drops on one flight than it would with a single bomb. Such a multiple rack is the subject of this set: under the designation Rafaut LBF-2 it carries four practice bombs of the 16 kg weight class.
The set is in 1:72 scale and contains two racks, each with a set of four practice bombs. The exact breakdown of the parts, the way of assembly and the recommended position under the wing are described in the manufacturer's instructions. The name does not give a specific aircraft type, so when fitting them, follow the documentation for the machine you are building.
The parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that you do not sand away the shape of the lug. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. In 1:72 scale the bombs are very small, so have tweezers ready and work over a work mat. Practice bombs tend to be conspicuously colored so as to be set apart from combat ones, so a strong shade on the body and a darker, worn rack suit the set.
This is an accessory set to a model, not an aircraft kit. Paints, glue, tools and the kit itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
