The beer crate 1:16 Beer crates from the Firma49 brand with twenty bottles. The second of two items the manufacturer makes in this scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This 1:16 Beer crates item comprises one crate with twenty bottles, and it is a separate item from its sibling in the same scale. 1:16 is the size in which small props pay off, because they really are visible in a finished scene, and at the same time the size where a poorly rendered detail has nowhere to hide.
While the crate itself is an angular object with a simple surface, it is precisely the twenty bottles that decide how the scene will come across. For most of the twentieth century the returnable beer bottle had a volume of half a liter, dark glass to protect the contents from light, and the crown cap, which came into use shortly after 1892. In 1:16 that works out as an object roughly two centimeters tall, so even the colored stripe of a label can be suggested on it. Bottles scattered around the crate will do the scene more good than a perfectly aligned row in the compartments.
For the glass, a dark brown with a strong gloss works well, and for older scenes rather an olive. Paint the crate so that the wood does not look new: an uneven application and a few darker stains pay off. The metal reinforcement of the corners can get a rusty tinge from dry pigment.
The prop is sold on its own and includes neither figures nor a base for the scene.
