1:16 Vietcong (NVA) helmet is a resin pair of lightweight tropical helmets of Vietnamese fighters in the large 1:16 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The two castings in the package represent the lightweight tropical helmet that became a visual hallmark of Vietnamese units. The accessory is intended for figures in 1:16 scale, where its unmistakable shape is clearly legible.
It is not a steel helmet but a lightweight head covering with a pressed shell and a soft lining. It protected above all against the sun and the rain, weighed a fraction of what steel does and in the tropical heat a whole day of marching could be endured in it. It was worn by the fighters of the South Vietnamese insurgency and by the soldiers of the North Vietnamese army, and that is why this shape usually calls the whole conflict in Southeast Asia to mind. The surface tends to be smooth, often completed with a cloth cover or with loops for camouflage greenery.
The base is a muted green with no gloss. It is with this helmet in particular that it pays to work with wear: a scuffed edge of the rim, a dusty deposit in the lower part and an unevenly faded top will turn a smooth casting into a convincing piece of equipment. Anyone who wants to go further will add camouflage netting of a fine fabric or a few leaves of photo-etching. The helmets can also be set on askew or pushed to the back of the head, which gives a figure a relaxed stance.
The package contains the castings themselves without a figure, paints and glue.
