The set 1:16 Paint Masks Set For Panzer IV Ausf.H Insignia And Numbers contains a sheet of masks for spraying national crosses and tactical numbers onto a large model of the medium tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet is cut to the outlines of the most widespread version of the Panzer IV medium tank in a large scale. It contains the national crosses and the numerals from which the tactical designation of a vehicle is assembled. The material is a thin semi-transparent masking tape, which holds even on vertical side plates and after careful removal can be used a second time. The extent of the sheet corresponds to one model.
The Ausf. H version received side armor skirts on the hull and around the turret, and it was precisely those that changed the customs of marking. In a number of units the three-digit number moved onto the plates of the skirts, because the side of the turret itself was now hidden. The cross, by contrast, stayed on the hull and on the rear. For the builder that means the layout of the markings has to be chosen according to whether the model carries the skirts.
Peel the small parts off with tweezers and place them aligned by the edge of the plate, not by eye. Prepare the inner infills of the crosses in advance, so that they are not missing when you spray. Spray in short bursts at right angles to the surface and take the masking tape off as soon as the paint has set. The white outline of the cross is best applied first and the dark infill only over it.
