Stencils for the demonstration scheme of the Czech Su-25 ground-attack aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pylons full of unguided rockets, an armored tub around the pilot and a titanium casing around the engines: this is a machine built for work low over the ground. The Czechoslovak Air Force took these ground-attack aircraft over in the second half of the 1980s, and after the country divided some of them stayed with Czech units. One of them received a striking scheme for public appearances that plays on the nickname of the whole type and carries a frog design onto the upper surfaces of the wings and onto the fuselage.
Such a pattern consists of large irregular patches with soft transitions and sharp spurs. Cut stencils transfer their outline one to one and hold it even where a patch runs over the edge of a wing or over a landing gear cover.
The patches lie over one another, so the order of the colors has to be kept according to the instructions and there is no hurrying between layers. A stencil that is to lie on a freshly sprayed surface is better stuck down and peeled off the back of your hand once first, so that it loses part of its tack and does not tear off the paint beneath it.
Demonstration finishes have appeared since the 1990s and tend to be the work of a small group of people who apply them by hand at the air base itself. That is exactly why the left and the right side of a machine never agree down to the last detail and shots from the two sides differ. If you are building from photographs, reckon also with the possibility that the design was touched up in service, so individual shots need not agree with each other.
There are only masks in the box; the model of the aircraft and the paints do not belong to them.
