Paint masks for the Vietnam camouflage of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is an American single-seat ground-attack aircraft with a piston engine and a propeller. It came about at the end of the Second World War, but it became famous only two decades later in Vietnam, where it competed with jet machines through what they could not do: it stayed over the battlefield for hours, flew slowly and low and carried an unusually large load on a great many underwing pylons. You recognize it by its powerful fuselage, the broad wing with folding tips and the large propeller.
The masks cover the areas of the camouflage in the form the aircraft wore during the Vietnam War. The broken-up transitions between the fields are sprayed sharply with masks, without laborious taping and without the risk of the edge spreading. The scope of the sheet, the placement of the individual parts and the recommended order of the shades are described in the manufacturer's instructions. Compare the shape of the parts with your model beforehand.
Work from the lighter shades to the darker and let every layer cure properly before you stick the masks on for the next color. Press the edges down with a toothpick so that paint does not run underneath, and spray in several thin coats; one heavy coat bleeds sooner than three light ones. Take the masks off while the finish is fresh and pull them at an angle to the rear.
The set will be appreciated by modelers who want to spray a broken-up camouflage with sharp edges. The package contains the masks; the paints, the glue and the kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
