Painting masks for the cabin glazing and windows for a model of the B-24J Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Consolidated B-24J Liberator was the most numerously produced version of the American four-engine heavy bomber. You recognize the type by its high-set narrow wing, angular fuselage and pair of vertical tail surfaces. The J version had a forward gun turret, so there really are a lot of glazed areas on the model: the pilot's cabin, the turrets, the side windows and the glazing in the nose.
The masks cover the cabin glazing and the windows. On a bomber this is the work that takes the most time of the whole model, because there are many glazed places and each has a different shape. A cut mask holds the shape of the frame precisely, so after spraying the frame stays sharply bounded and the glass clean. The exact extent of the sheet and the placement of the individual parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions. Compare the shape of the clear parts with your own model in advance.
Wash and degrease the clear parts, as otherwise a mask will not adhere and paint will run under it. Stick it on before spraying and press the edges of the frames down with a toothpick. Apply the paint in several thin layers; with a large number of windows it pays to proceed part of the model at a time, not to spray everything at once. Take the masks off while the finish is fresh and pull them away at an angle backward.
The set saves time for everyone who builds a large bomber and does not want to cover dozens of frames in with tape. The package contains masks; paints, glue and a kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
