Rolls-Royce RB211-524 engine nacelles for the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar in 1:144 scale. An add-on set for building a model of the airliner, not a standalone kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set from LACI intended for a model of the wide-body Lockheed L-1011 TriStar airliner in 1:144 scale. This is not an aircraft model but a replacement for the engine nacelles, with which you replace the matching plastic parts of the kit. The set is aimed at the version with the RB211-524 powerplant, that is, at the later long-haul form of the TriStar.
The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was a three-engine wide-body aircraft that entered scheduled service at the beginning of the 1970s. Throughout its career it flew exclusively with Rolls-Royce RB211 engines, the first three-shaft turbofan of its kind. While the original variants were powered by the RB211-22 version, the more powerful RB211-524 appeared on the later and long-haul forms, among them the shortened TriStar with a long range. The outward differences between the engine versions are visible on the nacelles, and it is precisely because of them that it makes sense to deal with them on a model through a separate set.
Dry-fit the parts first and compare them with the plastic nacelles of the kit. Cut the plastic part off with a saw or a sharp knife in small steps and even the cut out with abrasive paper, so that the seating surface is flat. Degrease the parts before gluing and check that the axis of the nacelle sits right against the pylon and the wing. Bond the plastic sections with ordinary modeling cement for plastic; for joints with a material that cement for plastic will not bond, use super glue. Paint the inside of the intake and the exhaust section before installation, because you will reach them far less easily later on.
