This is a decal set in 1:12 scale, not a kit. It serves to give a model of the racing Yamaha YZR-M1, already built or under construction, the team form of the Tech3 satellite team of the 2010 season, in two variants of the race number, 5 and 11. The set therefore deals with the surface graphics, not with the plastic parts, which have to be had from another source.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 is a prototype circuit machine of the premier class of the road racing world championship. It is not a production motorcycle but a racing machine with an aluminum frame, a four-cylinder engine and a full fairing, whose appearance changes from season to season. That is exactly why the particular year is distinguished with models: the year 2010 and the Tech3 team determine both the color scheme and the layout of the sponsor lettering. Race numbers 5 and 11 correspond to two machines of the same team in that season.
Decals work best on a smooth gloss surface. Let the paint cure properly, therefore, and varnish it with a gloss varnish compatible with the paint used. Cut the sheets close to the motif, so the carrier film is as small as possible, and soak them only briefly in lukewarm water. On the rounded areas of the fairing and on the fender a decal softener helps, drawing the decal into the shape; with larger areas work in sections and push the excess water out with a soft cloth from the center outward. Once dry, varnish the whole surface, so the edges of the decals disappear and the graphics gain a uniform gloss.
