Italian anti-corrosion green in an acrylic form

This paint from Lifecolor carries the Italian name of the shade literally: Verde Anticorrosione, anti-corrosion green. It comes in a 22 ml bottle, is thinned with water and its tone is defined by the number 34558 of the American Federal Standard, which makes comparison across manufacturers possible.

Where the shade comes from

Italian aircraft works used their own protective finish, which was applied to the internal structure of the airframe, to the cockpit area and to surfaces hidden under fairings. The paint has a greenish, slightly muted tone of the kind typical of period protective finishes. Modelers will be interested in it above all on Italian-built machines of the Second World War period, where the interior is clearly visible with the canopy open and a color mistake is obvious at first glance. The same tone also suits small internal parts that get closed up during the build and show only through the glazing.

• interior surfaces, frames and bulkheads under the cockpit
• the inner sides of fairings and the landing gear bay doors
• a base for later emphasis of detail with a dark wash
• small accessories that suit a muted green
• surfaces meant to look period rather than freshly painted

Rules for safe work

Store out of the reach of children and away from food. When spraying, work in a ventilated room and always close the bottle tightly; do not pour leftovers down the drain but let them dry and dispose of them as solid waste. Once empty, the bottle does not need to be rinsed under running water.
