This kit from the French brand Heller brings three figures of members of the French Gendarmerie in 1:24 scale. The parts are injection molded from polystyrene, and the package also holds a decal sheet and illustrated instructions. The manufacturer recommends the set for modelers from the age of fifteen.
The Gendarmerie nationale is a militarily organized corps which in France provides police service mainly outside the large cities and on the roads. For decades its members were accompanied by a dark uniform with the flat kepi cap and white accessories, thanks to which the figures are recognizable at first glance. Figures like these go together with the period service cars that Heller has long offered in the same scale.
Glue the figures together, clean up the mold parting lines and spray on a thin coat of primer, which will reveal any remaining grooves. Build the uniform from a dark base toward lighter edges, and build the face on a flesh tone with very thin brown shading. Paint in small accessories such as the belt or the bag with a sharply pointed brush at the very end and unify the whole with a matte clear coat.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
