The resin figure 1:35 French WWII Commando Kieffer - Soldier 12 depicts a gunner on a Vickers machine gun in the French commando.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twelfth figure of the series was given the role of a gunner on a Vickers machine gun. It was precisely the heavy machine guns that held fire superiority in commando operations at the moment a lightly armed squad was closing on a fortified objective. The figure is produced by printing from resin and is sold individually.
One hundred and seventy-seven Frenchmen stepped ashore on the coast at Colleville on the morning of the sixth of June 1944, and their task was to clear the strongpoints in Ouistreham, among them a casino converted into a fortified post. The battalion also included a section armed with Vickers machine guns, which covered the others' advance along the streets. The fight for the harbor district was one of the hardest episodes of the whole sector that day.
With figures in action it pays to think the base out beforehand, because a straddled stance needs a firm anchor; a wire pin drilled into the leg solves the problem reliably. The light cloth of the battledress blouse stands out when a darker glaze is applied into the folds and the edges are lightened with a dry brush. The metal parts of the weapon take graphite polishing, which gives the surface an unobtrusive sheen.
The figure is intended to be assembled and painted; neither the material nor the colors are prepared in advance.
