The Lavochkin La-5FN is a Soviet single-seat fighter of the Second World War, one of the main fighters of the Eastern Front in its second half. The cockpit of this type was plain and functional, but precisely for that reason every detail is visible in it: under the sliding canopy the instrument panel, the side walls and the seat with its belts are in view.
Photo-etched metal parts for the cockpit, that is items made from thin sheet. The thickness photo-etching is done in cannot be produced in plastic: the instrument panel, the levers, the frames and the seat belts are therefore as slender in metal as they could never be in plastic. The set is prepared for the Bilek kit in 1:48 scale. The parts are held on the carrier fret by thin tabs and are separated only just before fitting.
For modelers who are building an older kit and want to take it further where the plastic interior stayed a mere suggestion. Working with photo-etched metal calls for tweezers, a sharp blade and calm, but the fitting of the cockpit itself is rewarding: it shows at first glance.
The package contains the photo-etched parts only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
