Aero L-29 Delfin — a combined set (1:48, Eduard)

A package of accessories, not an aircraft model. It is an Eduard combination that brings several separate detail sets for the Aero L-29 Delfin kit in 1:48 scale from AMK together in one box. It contains photo-etched parts (a colored interior fret as well as exterior refinements) and a masking set for the glazing. One box brings together what is otherwise sold as separate sets. Everything is shaped for the AMK plastic and is made by the Czech company Eduard, a leading maker of photo-etched parts and masks.

The real subject

The Aero L-29 Delfin was a Czechoslovak jet trainer that became the standard training machine of the air forces of the Warsaw Pact. It was built in thousands and for many pilots of the Eastern Bloc it was the first jet type they sat at the controls of. Its simple, reliable design made it a legend of postwar Czechoslovak aviation.

Use and fitting

• Fit the colored interior fret into the cockpit and separate the small parts with a sharp knife.
• Make the bends of the photo-etched parts over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for plastic does not hold on metal.
• Stick the masks onto the glazing before spraying the canopy.
• Finish the interior before you close the fuselage.
