A set of wooden deck and photo-etch in 1:570 scale for the battleship Tirpitz lifts the look of the finished Revell 5042 kit where it shows most.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package is prepared for the Revell 5042 kit of the German battleship Tirpitz at a reduction of 1:570. It consists of a wooden covering for the upper areas completed with photo-etched parts. It is an upgrade to a ship under construction; the plastic moldings for building her are not in the package.
The Tirpitz came about as the second unit of the Bismarck class and entered service in February 1941. She spent most of her career hidden in the Norwegian fjords, from where she took almost no part in the fighting but by her very existence tied down considerable Allied forces. Because of her the British kept heavy units at readiness that were badly missed elsewhere. In September 1943 British midget submarines damaged her, and the definitive end came on the twelfth of November 1944 off Tromso, where heavy bombs from bombers hit her and turned her keel upward.
Fill and sand the seams of the hull before you reach for the covering; nothing can be fine-tuned under it afterward. Separate the photo-etched items on a hard surface with a blade, not with pliers, otherwise they twist. Spray the gray on the superstructures separately and mask the area with the wood grain; the fine shades will then stand out against the dark northern camouflage.
