A four-piece package of Italian 90/53 self-propelled guns carried by the chassis of the Breda 52 truck, scale 1:100.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the Italian army was looking for a way to get the heavy 90/53 gun moving, it did not stop at one type of chassis. Alongside the widespread Lancia vehicle the heavy Breda 52 also served, and it was precisely this combination that stayed much rarer: considerably fewer examples of it were built than of the variant on the competing chassis. For a modeler that means a subject which is hardly ever seen in display cases, although it is part of the same story: the improvised anti-tank defense in the desert, where the distance and the speed of the first shot decided.
The difference from the better-known version lies mainly in the carrier. The Breda 52 had a different shape of cab, a different arrangement of the frame and a different bed, so two vehicles with the same gun look distinctly different when stood side by side. The gun itself stayed the same: a long barrel of 90 mm caliber, originally intended for firing at aircraft, which found a far harsher use in the desert war.
The carton holds four identical machines. At 1:100 scale it pays to build all four pieces at the same time: the paints and the shades of the desert finish then hold together and the unit looks like a whole rather than four randomly collected vehicles. A small amount of differentiation is enough, created with dust and a varying degree of wear rather than by changing the base shade.
