A bucket in 1:35 scale

A small container for a diorama and for adding to models of vehicles in 1:35 scale. A bucket belongs to the equipment that appears in period photographs beside practically every vehicle and field post: it hangs on a hook on the side of a bed, it stands by jerrycans, by a field kitchen or by a water tank. It is exactly such small things that give a scene its scale and that look more convincing than one more weapon.

The dimensions match 1:35 scale, so the element lines up with figures and with vehicles in that scale and you do not have to rework it in any way.

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully with fine paper. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. A drop of super glue is enough to settle it into a scene. What looks best is a darker base shade, then a fine lightening with a dry brush along the edges and a slight darkening into the recesses once it has dried. Suggest wear and rust only where the container would really rub against the ground or the side of a vehicle. Leave the inside darker than the outside, as an empty container otherwise reads as flat.
