The Bugatti EB110 GT in dark red metallic – the Italian supercar of the 1990s. A collector's casting in 1:64, supplied assembled.
Responsibility details are not available.
In 1990 the entrepreneur Romano Artioli built a glazed hall near Modena in which he wanted to revive the Bugatti name. The result was the EB110, presented on September 15, 1991 in Paris, that is exactly 110 years after the birth of Ettore Bugatti – hence the number in the designation of the car.
The basis was a monocoque of carbon fiber and the power came from a five-valve twelve-cylinder of 3.5 liters with four turbochargers. The GT version gave 560 horses, the sharper Super Sport 610. The output went to all four wheels, which in the supercar class of the day was an entirely singular recipe. The factory closed as early as 1995, though, and something over one hundred thirty cars left its gates, so the EB110 remained a legend rather than an everyday sight on the road.
The model is finished and painted in dark red metallic. Metal carries the body, plastic the chassis plate and the interior, and the wheels turn on rubber tires. At 1:64 the length of the car comes out at roughly seven centimeters.
Collections of Italian supercars usually stop at the two best known marques. The EB110 is an item not everyone has on the shelf, and yet without it the story of the 1990s makes no sense: it was the first modern attempt to build a thousand-kilogram carbon car with all-wheel drive before that became ordinary.
Dark red metallic is less usual on this subject than the gray and green shades, so in a display case it does not disappear among its neighbors, and in side light the wedge-shaped flanks come out well on it.
