The package holds five replacement blades of type 16 intended for No. 1 handles. The blade has a shape adapted to scribing and to running a cut along a surface, so it works well where you do not want to cut through the material but only to mark a line or trace a shape. Besides the handle from the same maker it also fits other common holders that take blades of the same type. Five pieces in a package means you can change the blade as soon as it starts to drag, rather than economizing in the wrong place.
Change the blade before it stops cutting. A blunt blade slips, calls for more pressure, and that is precisely when a cut finger or a scratch on the model happens. When scribing, guide the tool along a ruler and go over it lightly several times rather than heavily once; a deeper groove can be made gradually, but a part cut through is hard to repair. Do not throw used blades loose into the bin but into a closed container.
For modelers who retrace panel lines and work with decals and stencils, and for anyone who already owns a No. 1 handle and needs a spare edge. Anyone who does not yet have the handle needs to buy it separately, because it is not in the package.
The blades are very sharp. Store them in their original packaging, out of the reach of children, and do not rush when handling them.
