An injection-molded plastic kit of a large Chinese historical sailing ship associated with Admiral Zheng He, in 1:60 scale from Trumpeter. It is an impressive and large model: the assembled ship measures around 60 cm long and with its rigging rises to almost 60 cm in height. The box holds a great many parts, yards and sails for a faithful rendering of a ship of the early fifteenth century.
Zheng He was an admiral of the Chinese Ming dynasty who between 1405 and 1433 led a series of great naval expeditions. His fleet sailed to Southeast Asia, India, Arabia, the Persian Gulf and the east coast of Africa. These so-called treasure ships were among the largest wooden vessels in the world of their day and a symbol of the naval power of Ming China. Their characteristic features were a multi-masted sail plan and tall superstructures fore and aft.
Use liquid cement for plastic and divide the build into the hull, the decks and the rigging. Finish and paint the hull and the decks before you fit the masts and the yards. Patient work on the fine trim, the rigging lines and the sails pays off; for the wooden surfaces use a wood tone with light glazes and patina. For display you will appreciate a firm stand and plenty of room.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
