The maker Artwox Model offers this sheet for a model of the British battleship HMS Warspite. It is an enhancement of a finished model, not a kit: the covering is fitted to the areas of the upper deck and changes the impression of the whole model. The difference shows at first glance.

The Warspite served for over three decades and went through both world wars. At Jutland in 1916 a jammed rudder took her on two involuntary circles in the middle of enemy fire, and yet she came home. After a rebuild in the 1930s she took part in the fighting at Narvik, off Calabria she recorded one of the longest gunnery hits ever registered at sea, she fought at Cape Matapan, covered the landings at Salerno and in June 1944 supported the landings in Normandy. She earned the nickname Grand Old Lady by right.
Build and paint the model, and only then start on the deck. Compare the piece with the shape of the area and tune the overhangs before seating it permanently. British ships look natural with slightly grayed wood, so choose muted shades. Avoid gloss varnishes, which would spoil the look of the wood.
