A paint from the IONIC line carried under the manufacturer's part number IONIC-0003 and the name Pearl Grey. It is a gray shade whose name points to a pearl and is usually associated with a light, soft gray. The name settles neither the exact lightness of the tone nor any special surface effect, so do not expect a pearlescent sheen from the paint unless the manufacturer states it on the packaging.
Light gray tones serve on the upper surfaces of aircraft and on faded finishes, on light interiors, on paving and plaster in a diorama and on the clothing of figures. They are also used for lightening a darker gray, because they bring light into it without taking it toward white. They sit well with earthy browns, glazes and pigments, so they also serve as an undercoat for later grime.
Stir the contents thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Light shades as a rule need more coats than dark ones, so apply them thin and add the next one only once the previous has dried; a heavy coat clogs the engraved seams and the fine relief. Choose the thinner and the ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; for an airbrush it needs more thinning than for a brush. Try the shade on a test piece, because a large area always looks lighter than a small sample. Rinse the tools right after work.
The package contains the stated shade. The thinner, brushes and varnishes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
