The first part of a decal collection for the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch in 1:72 scale. The schemes range from the Spanish Civil War through the Balkans and the Alps to the French Criquet in Indochina.
Responsibility details are not available.
A takeoff run of about sixty meters and a landing roll of barely twenty: the Fieseler Fi 156 bought those figures with a slot along the entire leading edge and with huge flaps. Thanks to them it got into mountain saddles, onto field tracks and into town squares, and it became the best-known liaison aircraft of the Second World War. It went on being built after 1945 as well, in France as the Morane-Saulnier and in Czechoslovakia as the K-62.
The collection opens with a machine from the Balkan campaign in the spring of 1941 and goes on to an aircraft of the Swiss Air Force, to the personal machine of a British general at Duxford in 1944 and to an aircraft of the Condor Legion from Spain. Reconnaissance units on the Eastern Front are represented as well, along with a post-war Criquet in Indochina in 1947 and the machine that carried Mussolini away from the Gran Sasso in September 1943. The last items belong to an aircraft over Poland in the summer of 1944 and to a machine of a Canadian squadron from Cairo.
The package consists of a printed carrier film with national insignia and additional markings for the individual machines, together with a list of the color schemes. The model, paints and glue are not included.
On this type the glazing of the cabin takes up nearly the whole space above the wing, so it pays to place the decals before the frames and struts go on. The film goes onto the flat side of the fuselage easily, but on the corrugated fabric covering of the tail surfaces it is better to add a drop of decal softener.
