Decals in 1:72 for the American shuttle raids to Soviet airfields in the summer of 1944.

On paper the idea was elegant. American bomber formations were to take off from the west, attack targets deep in Central Europe on the way and, instead of returning, carry on eastwards, where prepared airfields awaited them on Soviet territory. The next day the same was repeated in reverse. The enemy would thus lose any chance of judging which way a formation would return, and the reach of the bombing would at a stroke extend into areas that had until then lain out of the game. The whole undertaking moreover had a political dimension, because for the first time it brought both Allied air forces onto one airfield.
Reality was harsher. On the night after one of the first transits, German bombers appeared over one of the base airfields, having shadowed the formation unobtrusively during the day, and in several waves destroyed dozens of heavy machines on the ground. It was the heaviest single loss of American aircraft on the ground in the whole war, and the undertaking never fully recovered from it. Even so it continued into the autumn and wrote itself into the history of help to the insurgents in Warsaw as well.
Subjects of this kind bring together machines of several types and color schemes, which makes a single sheet a stock for several builds. So choose the option in advance and store the rest of the sheet in its original packaging; a sheet once cut into deteriorates in a drawer faster than you would expect. It also helps to note on the packaging which elements have already been used.
