Replacement windshield wipers for a model of the Wessex HC.2 helicopter in 1:72, meant for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Wessex is a British helicopter derived from the Sikorsky S-58. The HC.2 version served in the Royal Air Force for transport, for dropping troops and for rescue work, that is for work at low altitude and in bad weather, where the clarity of the windshield is essential. The wipers are therefore clearly visible on the real subject, and on a model they are among the small things the eye notices sooner than one would expect.
It offers replacement wipers in 1:72. At this size the plastic part is either only shallowly suggested in the glazing or disproportionately thick; a separate element has a thinner arm and looks more natural on the glass. That it is meant for the Airfix kit follows from the name, but try the fit dry before gluing and adapt it to the shape of the particular glazing.
The parts are not polystyrene, so liquid cement for plastic will not hold on them; use cyanoacrylate glue in a tiny amount carried on the tip of a wire, because a drop on the glazing leaves a matte stain. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest away. First carefully shave off any wipers suggested on the glass and polish the area. Paint the elements in advance, before fitting, and put them on only once the glazing has been finished and unmasked.
For modelers who finish off the glazing and do not want a coarsely suggested wiper to spoil an otherwise clean cockpit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
