A holder for the folded rotor blades of the Westland Wessex HC.2 in 1:72 scale from Quickboost (Aires). A resin accessory for the Airfix kit; it is not a model but a detail part that lets the helicopter be displayed with the rotor blades folded.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a helicopter model. The set is intended for the plastic Westland Wessex HC.2 kit in 1:72 scale from Airfix and deals with one particular job: to support and tie the folded main rotor blades convincingly, that is the state in which the helicopter stands parked at an airfield or on the deck of a ship. The Quickboost brand belongs to the Czech company Aires and specializes in simple, accurately cast replacement parts that are fitted without major work on the kit.
On the real machine the rotor blades of the Wessex fold back along the fuselage, where a support with clamps holds them. A kit usually does not contain such a holder in a usably fine form, as the plastic would have to be disproportionately thick. Resin allows a thin structure with sharp edges to be cast, so the folded blades hold a realistic position and the model takes on a lively parked look instead of statically spread blades.
For modelers who build the Wessex HC.2 in 1:72 and want to display it in a realistic parked or shipboard state, with the blades folded as the machine looked between flights. Builders of dioramas and deck scenes will value it too, where a folded rotor saves space and looks believable at the same time. Working with resin calls for a little experience, but the fitting itself is undemanding.
An accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right. The plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
