A replacement pitot tube in 1:32 scale for American aircraft of the Second World War. It replaces a coarse or damaged part from the kit with a finer element.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pitot tube senses the pressure of the oncoming air and supplies the reading for the airspeed indicator. That is why it has to project into the free stream, away from the influence of the fuselage and the wing; on American machines of the Second World War it is most often found under the leading edge of the wing, near the wingtip or on the side of the nose. On a model it is one of the first parts to bend or break off, because it is thin and sticks out unprotected.
It brings a replacement for that part in 1:32 scale, a finished element with finer proportions than a tiny plastic part from a kit allows. Its coverage is broad: American air forces of the Second World War. Compare the shape and the length with the part in the kit and with the model's instructions before fitting it.
The part is not polystyrene, so ordinary liquid cement for plastic will not hold on it. Use super glue and apply it in the smallest amount with the tip of a wire. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder back carefully so as not to thin the tube. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Fit it at the very end of the build, after the main handling of the model, or you will bend the element.
For modelers who are bothered in a large scale by a coarse, crooked or broken plastic part and want to replace it with a more accurate one. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
