This figure set from Zimi Model brings, in 1:35 scale, the crew of the American naval quad Bofors anti-aircraft gun of 40 mm caliber. It is the second crew set (Set 2), and the figures are shown wearing life jackets, typical of service on the deck of a warship. The figures are made as fine 3D printed resin castings with faithful anatomy and equipment. The set serves to bring the scene around the gun to life and to place a model in the context of a deck crew in action.
The quad Bofors of 40 mm caliber was one of the most widespread anti-aircraft guns of the US Navy during the Second World War. It protected ships from air attack and its crew was made up of several men who handled aiming, loading and the supply of ammunition. Life jackets were part of the prescribed equipment of a deck crew.
Wash the resin printed figures free of mold release agent, separate them carefully from the supports and clean them up. Glue with super glue. For a realistic look, layered painting of the uniforms, work on the faces and light washes to bring out the folds of the clothing all help.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the gun itself are not included in the package.
