Air intake covers, an exhaust plug and an AOE cover for a model of the A-4E/F Skyhawk in 1:32 scale, rendition A. Meant for the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of covers for a model of the A-4E/F Skyhawk in 1:32 scale in the rendition designated A, meant for the Trumpeter kit. It takes in the air intake covers, a plug for the exhaust nozzle and the cover designated AOE. In aviation practice intake covers are fitted to parked machines so that no foreign objects get into the engine; the plug fulfills the same task at the opposite end.
Covered intakes say at once that the machine is standing on the ground and is not about to go anywhere, and at the same time they solve one of the most laborious parts of the build: the deep intake ducts, which otherwise have to be sanded out and sprayed to a depth a brush can no longer reach. The model thus gains the believable look of a parked aircraft and the builder saves work.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little distance from the part and sand the rest down so that the cover seats on the outline of the intake with no gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Covers and plugs on real machines tend to be strikingly colorful precisely so that nobody overlooks them, so it pays to paint them separately from the model and to fit them only at the end. Try the seating dry beforehand, while the outline can still be adjusted. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; the specific procedure is given in the maker's instructions.
For builders of large Skyhawk models who want to build the machine in a ground scene. This is an accessory for a kit; paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
