A set of wooden decks for a model of the German ship Admiral Graf Spee in 1:700 scale, in the state matching 1939. It is not a kit but an accessory to one: the exactly shaped parts of thin veneer are stuck onto the plastic deck and replace it with a surface carrying real wood grain, which no painted-on finish can imitate.
The Admiral Graf Spee was among the ships in which a heavy armament was combined with a relatively small displacement. The main armament was six 28-centimeter guns in two triple turrets, one forward and one aft. The ship's career ended in December 1939: after an engagement with a force of British cruisers off the mouth of the River Plate she made for Montevideo, and in the end her own crew scuttled her. In this scale the model measures just under twenty-seven centimeters.
For builders of ship models in 1:700 scale who want the deck set apart from the rest of the hull without the labor of painting. A less experienced modeler can manage the application; it only takes a flat base and some care in laying the parts on. The extent of the set and the placing of the individual parts are given by the manufacturer in the instructions supplied.
The package holds the wooden deck parts only. The model, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
