Fujimi 1:700 IJN Kongo Warship Next — a model of the Japanese fast battleship, the lead unit of the Kongo class, from the modern NEXT line. Parts molded in color and a build without glue or painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Japanese fast battleship Kongo from the manufacturer Fujimi in the modern Warship Next line. The parts are molded in matching colors and snap together — the model can be built without glue and without painting and is therefore suitable even for a first encounter with ship modeling, while offering a very decent level of detail.
Kongo was the lead ship of a four-strong class and at the same time the last Japanese large warship built abroad — she was built at the British Vickers yard and entered service in 1913 as a battlecruiser. After two extensive modernizations she served as a fast battleship with a speed of around 30 knots and a main armament of eight 356 mm guns. During the war she escorted carrier groups and took part in the fighting from Southeast Asia to Leyte. In November 1944 she was hit by torpedoes from the American submarine Sealion near Taiwan and sank — the only Japanese battleship destroyed by a submarine.
The build needs no glue — it is enough to separate the parts cleanly from the frames and snap them together. More experienced modelers can add a fine wash, toning of the wooden deck and photo-etched railings in 1:700 scale.
The kit is supplied unassembled. The parts are molded in color and snap together without glue; paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
