Fujimi 1:700 Japanese Navy Battleship Musashi Fune Next — a kit of the legendary Yamato-class battleship from the Fune Next line: parts molded in color and a snap-fit build without glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the battleship Musashi, the second unit of the Yamato class, in the popular 1:700 scale. The Fune Next line (Warship Next) is built on parts molded in several colors of plastic and on snap-fit joints — the model therefore holds together without glue and looks impressive even unpainted. That makes it an ideal entry into the world of ship models, but also a quick project for experienced modelers.
Musashi and her sister Yamato were the largest battleships ever built. Musashi entered service in 1942, carried nine 460 mm guns and massive armor; in 1943 she served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet. 24 October 1944 proved fatal for her, when repeated raids by American carrier aircraft sank her in the Sibuyan Sea during the Battle of Leyte.
Work in subassemblies — hull, decks, superstructures, gun turrets — and cut the parts off with good nippers so that the snap-fit pins stay undamaged. When painting, a combination of a darker naval gray for the hull and a brownish shade for the wooden deck works well; a fine wash will bring out the rich surface detail. The ship stands out on a simple stand and in a diorama with escorting destroyers alike.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
