Tamiya 1:700 Japanese Navy Destroyer Sakura is a plastic kit of a Japanese destroyer of the end of the Second World War in the popular Waterline series.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit in 1:700 scale captures the Japanese destroyer Sakura. It belongs to the popular Waterline series, that is, the version with the hull down to the waterline, suited both to a model afloat and to a collector's display case. It is built from injection-molded plastic.
The Sakura was one of the simply designed escort destroyers that the Imperial Japanese Navy built at the end of the Second World War to make up for its losses. The ship was completed at the end of 1944 and carried strong anti-aircraft armament and a radar for searching for air targets. In 1945 it was lost after striking a mine.
A waterline model can be built without extensive conversion work. The fine parts, masts and gun barrels call for careful cutting from the sprues. An airbrush works well for even shades, and the deck and the superstructure are brought out with washes and a dry brush. The model shows to advantage on a base or on an imitation of a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
