The Type 055 is the largest surface combat unit that the PLA Navy has brought into service in recent years. It is a multipurpose destroyer with an enclosed superstructure and flat walls angled into one another, which are meant to reduce the radar signature. The Nanchang is one of the units of this class. The silhouette is unmistakable and in a small scale it is precisely that compact, enclosed superstructure that stands out.
