Responsibility details are not available.
A combined package from Artwox Model for a model of the British battleship HMS Rodney. According to the name it contains a veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and an adhesive backing, a masking sheet and photo-etched parts. The set is cut for the Meng PS-001 kit, and another release of the same ship need not have the same outlines.
Adhesive veneer forgives little. It is therefore a good idea to first clear the plastic deck of sprue gate remnants and flash, sand the high spots with fine paper and wash the surface in warm water with a drop of dish soap. Grease from your fingers and sanding dust are the two most common reasons why veneer starts to lift at the corners after a few days. Before you peel the film off, do a dry fit as well and note which way round the part sits.
The veneer is porous, so it readily takes wood stain or a tinted varnish. Do not rush the shade, though: it darkens faster than you expect and there is no way back. A test on an offcut from the edge of the sheet works well. Seal the finished deck with a matte varnish, which protects it from getting dirty during the rest of the work on the model. Fit the photo-etched parts from the set only after the deck is done so that they do not get in your way.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
