A plastic kit of the Soviet destroyer flotilla leader Tashkent as she appeared in 1940, 1:700 scale. Supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Tashkent was a destroyer flotilla leader of the Soviet Navy, built in an Italian yard and assigned to the Black Sea Fleet. Ships of this role differed from ordinary destroyers in their greater size, more powerful machinery and high speed: they were to lead a group of destroyers, carry a command staff and keep pace with the fastest units. The year in the designation of the model refers to the appearance of the ship in that period, that is to the state of her armament and equipment.
1:700 is the most widespread scale for ship models and there is a reason for it: even a large warship fits into an ordinary display case in it, and a whole group of vessels can be placed side by side at the same ratio. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade, clean up the mating faces and join them with cement intended for plastic models. The superstructures, masts and gun turrets are easier to paint separately and to fit only at the end. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. The hull is usually divided by color into the underwater and the above-water part, so it pays to have masking tape ready for a straight dividing line. Whether the kit allows the ship to be built as a full-hull model or only as a waterline one is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For collectors of warships and those interested in the naval history of the Second World War. Paints, glue and other modeling supplies are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
