About product

SH-3 Sea King 1:700 - Trumpeter (a set of helicopters)

A plastic set of small Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King carrier helicopters in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. It is not one large model but a set of several miniature helicopters molded in clear plastic, with which you fill out the deck of a model of an aircraft carrier or another surface ship. The parts carry fine detail and a sheet of decals is included.

The real subject

The Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King was a twin-engine carrier helicopter of the US Navy, which entered service at the start of the 1960s. It originally served in anti-submarine warfare, but it also found use in search and rescue, in transport and in a range of other tasks. Over a thousand machines were built and the Sea King became one of the most widespread naval helicopters of its day.

Building and painting tips

Separate the small parts and the rotors carefully from the sprue and clean them up. Glue with liquid modeling cement and place the smaller pieces with tweezers. Once a base coat has been sprayed on, paint the helicopters with an airbrush in naval gray shades and bring the detail out with a fine wash. The set fills out the deck and the landing spots of a ship model faithfully.

Who the set is for

  • For builders of ship and aircraft carrier models in 1:700 scale
  • For collectors of carrier aviation of the Cold War
  • For modelers who want to fill decks and landing spots faithfully
  • For more experienced builders, because of the small parts

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
