A detailed plastic kit of the American battleship USS Maryland (BB-46) in the late-war configuration of 1945, in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The hull uses multi-axis molding and can be built as a full hull or as a waterline. The package holds photo-etched parts, a base with an engraved nameplate and decals.
USS Maryland was the second ship of the Colorado class with a main armament of 406 mm caliber. Her appearance of 1945 matches her state after the wartime refits — with a markedly strengthened anti-aircraft armament, radars and modernized superstructure, as the ship looked in the closing stage of the fighting in the Pacific. Against the 1941 version this is a different configuration and a separate product.
Choose the full-hull or the waterline variant. Glue the fine photo-etched parts (the radars, the masts, the railings) with super glue. Accent the engraved wooden deck with a glaze and a wash, and paint the hull with an airbrush in a late-war gray or a camouflage scheme. Assemble and paint the small floatplanes separately. The high part count makes the kit suitable rather for more experienced modelers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
