A plastic kit of the carrier-based attack aircraft Douglas A-1E Skyraider in 1:72 scale, in the US Navy form.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the single-engine attack aircraft Skyraider in the A-1E version, listed in the US Navy form. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Skyraider was a carrier-based attack aircraft with a piston radial engine and a four-blade propeller. It arose at the end of the Second World War but got into combat only later, and it lasted in service longer than a whole generation of jet machines that were meant to take over its role. What kept it there was a combination of qualities that faster aircraft did not offer: long time over the target, a large load on the pylons and the ability to work low and slow.
Compared with the single-seat Skyraiders, the A-1E version has a wider forward fuselage with two seats side by side. The cockpit on the model is therefore strikingly different and the machine looks bulkier.
Before you start gluing, go through the instructions and try the parts dry, above all the joint of the fuselage with the wing and the seating of the engine section. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing before spraying, not once the paint has dried. Lay the paint down in thin layers so that the panel lines and the surface structure stay visible. Plan the underwing stores in advance according to the subject you have chosen, so that the armament matches one version.
Paints, glue and detail sets are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
