This is not a kit but a set of replacement main landing gear wheels for a model of the twin-engine Douglas in 1:72 scale. The set is meant to replace the plastic wheels of the kit and offers the variant with hubs without their covering discs, as a number of machines carried them in service. The accessory is cut for the kit, that is for the one from Special Hobby; the model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
The Douglas A-20 was an American twin-engine light bomber and attack aircraft of the Second World War. The British and Allied air forces used it under the designation Boston, and the radar-equipped night fighter version carried the designation P-70 Nighthawk. The type proved itself in attacks from low altitude and served on most theaters of war. On this aircraft the main landing gear wheels are among the clearly visible details, because the model is most often built with the gear extended.
Wash the castings first in warm soapy water to remove the mold release residue; otherwise neither primer nor paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a thin saw or a cutting disc, not with pliers, which break resin out. We recommend sanding wet and with respiratory protection, because resin dust is not to be breathed in. It is glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not work on this material. Apply a thin primer before painting, and only then the tire color and a different shade for the hub. If the casting has a flat spot on the contact face, align it to the floor only when the landing gear is being glued in, so that the wheel stands naturally.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, which it does not contain. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
