A vacuum-formed clear cockpit canopy for the A-36 Apache model in 1:72 scale is an accessory to a kit you have already bought. It replaces the original injected part with a thinner, cleaner canopy.

An accessory from the Czech maker Brengun intended for the Brengun kit. It is not a model or a kit but a replacement clear part. A vacuum-formed canopy is created by drawing thin clear film over a form, so the result is considerably more delicate than a part injected into a mold and it reads more convincingly, especially where the cockpit is to be displayed open.
An injected canopy has a wall a few tenths of a millimeter thick and the parting plane of the mold tends to show at the edges. Seen through, it distorts the interior and its slid-back section looks like a wedge of glass. Drawn film, by contrast, is thin and optically cleaner, and a slid-back part looks real on a model. That is exactly why vacuum-formed canopies are used on cockpits that are to stay open, or where the original part does not fit in shape.
The part is cut out of the film along the outline, never close to it: leave a few millimeters of margin around it at first. It helps to trace the seating edge with a soft pencil or a marker so that it is visible while sanding. Sand the excess away gradually on fine abrasive paper laid on a board, in a circular motion and with frequent test fitting on the model. The material whitens from sanding, and the shine comes back with polishing and, if need be, a dip in clear varnish. It is glued with a cement for clear parts or with white glue, which does not fog them. Do not use super glue on drawn film, as its fumes dull the surface.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
