A masking set from kabuki paper in 1:72 scale for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk in the B, C, E and F versions, in the Expert configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is a light carrier attack aircraft, which came about as a deliberately small and simple machine, so that it could do without a folding wing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The delta wing, the short fuselage and the high-set cockpit gave it an unmistakable silhouette. It served for decades with the United States Navy and the Marine Corps and further with a number of foreign users. The B, C, E and F versions differ from one another, among other things, in equipment and in the dorsal hump behind the cockpit, which was added on the later machines.
The masks are cut from kabuki paper. That paper follows curves well, holds its shape even on rounded areas and leaves no glue on the surface once taken off. In 1:72 scale painting the bars of the glazing by hand is especially thankless, because they are areas a fraction of a millimeter wide; a mask cut to shape solves that in a few minutes.
Apply the masks onto a clean, dry and degreased surface, always before spraying. Press the edges down with a blunt point, so that the paint does not run under them. Spray several thin coats, as a thick coat creates a ridge at the edge of the mask. Take the mask off soon after the paint has set, while the layer is still flexible, and lift it with the tip of a sharp blade.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
