This comprehensive Eduard photo-etched set for the Grumman A-6E Intruder in 1:72 scale belongs among the brand's full sets and covers a wider circle of areas of the model than the simplified editions. Eduard also offers a smaller set of the Zoom range for the same type, aimed only at the most important elements of the cockpit; this set is the more extensive of the two. It is an accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model in its own right.
The Intruder became the legendary packhorse of the American carriers: it could lift a greater load of armament than the four-engine bombers of the Second World War and deliver it to the target even in miserable weather, by day or by night. A subsonic low-wing machine with a characteristically rounded nose, it had its baptism of fire in Vietnam; the E variant, with improved avionics and later a sensor turret under the nose, lasted in service until the mid-1990s and bowed out over the Persian Gulf.
