An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Grumman A-6E Intruder carrier attack aircraft in the TRAM version, in 1:72 scale from the Italian manufacturer Italeri. The model is meant to be assembled and painted; the package contains plastic sprues, clear parts and decals with several marking options from the period of the Gulf War.
The A-6 Intruder was a two-seat carrier attack aircraft of the US Navy in service from the mid-1960s. The A-6E version was the most advanced form with modern avionics; the TRAM sub-version received a turret under the nose with an infrared sensor and a laser rangefinder for the accurate guidance of bombs. The Intruder carried a large load of bombs and guided missiles and took an active part in the combat missions of Operation Desert Storm.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the parting seams. Apply a primer before painting; the typical gray US Navy finishes come out best with an airbrush and fine emphasis on the panel lines. Apply the decals over a gloss coat so that no silvering occurs. Assemble and paint the underwing stores separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
