A conversion and decal set in 1:72 scale from Armycast. It is not a standalone kit but an accessory to a plastic model of the Bell AH-1W attack helicopter. The set contains resin parts for reworking the nose section with the NTS sensor turret and a sheet of waterslide decals with several combat schemes for the machine. The base model has to be obtained separately; working with resin is better suited to more experienced modelers.

The real subject

The Bell AH-1W SuperCobra, nicknamed the Whiskey Cobra, was a twin-engine attack helicopter of the US Marine Corps and of a number of foreign users. It stood out for its powerful armament, its toughness and its ability to carry anti-tank as well as unguided rockets. The set is aimed at its combat service and offers markings for several users of this proven attack helicopter.

Building and application tips

First wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and test-fit them to the model; bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways when sanding resin. Apply the decals onto a smooth gloss clear coat, settle them with a decal softener and, once dry, seal them with a varnish of the sheen you want.
