Browning machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber for a model of the B-17G bomber in 1:72 scale. A replacement for the simplified defensive armament from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-17G is the last and most widespread production form of the American four-engine bomber of the Second World War. It is told apart from the older versions by the gun turret under the nose, which filled the weak place in the defense from ahead. The defensive armament of the machine rested on Browning machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber distributed around the whole fuselage: in the chin turret, in the waist windows, in the top turret behind the cockpit, in the lower ball turret and in the tail. That is exactly why the B-17G appears in photographs as a machine bristling with barrels, and exactly why it pays to give the armament attention on a model.
Machine guns for a model of the B-17G in 1:72 scale. In this scale the barrels from a kit are necessarily thicker than reality would call for, because plastic at such a thickness will not hold; separate parts remove this compromise. The manufacturer gives the count of pieces in the package on the packaging.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade a little away from the barrel and sand the remainder finely, so that the barrel stays straight. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Fit the machine guns only in the last phase of the build, when you will no longer be turning the model in your hand, otherwise you will break them off during handling. Choose a dark color and apply it thinly; a barrel in this scale takes only the thinnest coat, otherwise it stops looking like metal.
For modelers who build the B-17G in 1:72 scale and want to finish the model in the places that are most visible. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
